Mindful Details for a Growing Community
While collaborating with LA-based Hot 8 Yoga on their Pasadena and Sherman Oaks studios, our designers were mindful of the clients’ need for warm, clean, and accessible spaces. Their guiding principle for the tenant improvement efforts was to develop a space that members would “fall in love with” regardless of where they are on their wellness journey. They also wanted each of the two locations to have their own unique look and feel within the “Hot 8” brand.
A custom gold-stenciled Bodhi leaf welcomes club members into the Pasadena studio’s entry lounge. The playful, yet sophisticated, art installation spans over thirty feet of the lobby walls and ceiling.
A well-appointed retail space flanks the minimalistic guest service desk. Warm lighting reflects a sense of calm stillness and reinforces the concept that Hot 8 Yoga is more than a practice; it is a place of refuge.
The Sherman Oaks studio is equally inviting, expressing the overall Hot 8 Yoga brand promise while delivering a site-specific experience. In order to fully utilize the unusually tall ceiling heights at this location, the designer incorporated groin vaults within the high ceilings similar to historic Italian cathedrals.
Multiple vault ceilings further activate the two entry mezzanine spaces, which feature rough-hewn communal seating options, before joining together over the reception area. These casual touches were implemented to support the client’s desire for a space where guests could gather before and after classes, ultimately fostering a deeper sense of community aimed at reaching their teachers’ and students’ full potential.
Clean locker rooms, state-of-the-art heating and filtration systems, and multi-discipline classes are staples of all Hot 8 Yoga’s locations, including the Pasadena and Sherman Oaks studios.
