“Space becomes place when a designer has provided an outlet for an emotional connection”

Kate approaches design with an appreciation for human interaction. Her varied experiences in the field have helped her to recognize the sociological connection between the built environment and the people who inhabit it. She believes that ‘space becomes place’ when a designer has provided an outlet for an emotional connection, and therefore strives to make every project personal and impactful. Kate’s innate understanding of branding in design elevates commercial spaces above the ordinary. Her extensive knowledge of texture, color, and material allow her to craft a brand identity through thoughtful detailing.

Kate has previously led and managed projects for several design firms in New York City, including projects ranging from high-end residences, multi-family developments, boutique hotels and corporate interiors. She joined Abramson Architects in 2015, where she works on a diverse range of projects from healthcare to high-end residential and retail to creative office spaces.

To say Kate loves to travel is an understatement. With her mom as a traveling companion, each year they venture out to exotic locations throughout the world. Together, they have hiked glaciers in Iceland, gone on a safari in South Africa and climbed up Wayna Picchu in Peru. Kate’s keen interest is not just the place, but talking to the local people when visiting small towns and villages to experience how other people live. This global awareness has greatly influenced her approach to design.
