Ryan Novi

Research Director, Senior Associate
“An effective project carefully considers its impact on a physical site as well as its potential to catalyze urban possibility”

Philosophy

Ryan believes that architecture is both a product of and for the city. In this sense, an effective project carefully considers its impact on a physical site as well as its potential to catalyze urban possibility.

Experience

Prior to joining AA, Ryan worked for the Graduate Chair at the Syracuse University School of Architecture on socially-oriented design projects in Mexico, Colombia, and South Korea. He later learned the intricacies of domestic-scale detailing while employed in the Washington D.C. area. Ryan joined Abramson Architects in 2014, where he designs and coordinates adaptive re-use developments, multi-tenant commercial projects, and ground-up creative office buildings.

Education

  • BS Architecture – Catholic University of America
  • MA Architecture – Syracuse University

Acclaim

  • ‘Award for Outstanding Thesis’, Syracuse University
  • Design Teaching Assistant for first-year Undergraduate Design Studio, Syracuse University

Tidbit

During Ryan’s off hours, he loves to wander, explore and experience possibilities one wouldn’t always encounter. He is a traveler and has lived in many of the world’s great cities: New York, Washington D.C., London, Rome and now Los Angeles. To explore the spread out array of Los Angeles neighborhoods, he would rather be riding his bicycle than driving in a “metal box”.
