A New Era of Cinema
Laemmle Theaters is a family-run establishment that has served the greater Los Angeles independent film community for over 70 years. Beginning in 2012, Laemmle started a sweeping renovation of almost all of their theater locations. Abramson Architects worked with the client on modernizing and repositioning multiple locations to meet the current expectation of Laemmle’s discerning clientele.
Despite showing independent films with a narrow audience appeal, Laemmle’s Santa Monica location was comprised of three blockbuster sized theaters. To better serve their selective patrons, the oversized spaces were converted into several smaller screening rooms. In addition to new state-of-the-art theaters, the modernization provides a redesigned ticketing and concession experience. The addition of a street-level restaurant and rooftop dining venue transform the facility into a full-service entertainment venue.
