Volumetric Masses on the Green

This contemporary home is located on a sprawling golf course in Los Angeles.  The plan is designed to take advantage of the dramatic verdant views and as such, all of the principle rooms are granted expansive visual access. Bronze-clad Mahogany frames large doors and windows that open up to the back of the property.

At the heart of the house is a two-story stairwell, capped by a skylight which filters natural light throughout.  All of the major interior spaces receive light from this skylight as well as the multitude of windows, fostering a heightened relationship with the outdoors in both horizontal and vertical directions.

Organic materials, such as warm woods and natural stone, are a welcome compliment to the clean, modern lines seen throughout.  Exterior materials are woven indoors, furthering the holistic experience.

Retaining walls and an infinity edge swimming pool were planned to increase the views down the fairway and towards the ocean in the distance. The garden is terraced into three levels; a flat lawn immediately adjacent to the house, an outdoor eating and dining pavilion on a level just a few steps below the lawn, and the swimming pool level that juts out into the view.
